Qld: DNA doubts in Arnott's case
The Arnott's biscuit extortion case heads back to court today amid doubts over whetherit will continue.
The Courier-Mail newspaper reports Queensland's Director of Public Prosecutions isunderstood to be moving to have the case struck out.
69-year-old JOY ELLEN THOMAS of Billinudgel in northern New South Wales has been committedto trial on four counts of extortion.
THOMAS allegedly threatened to poison Arnott's biscuits unless four New South Walespolice officers took lie detector tests over evidence they gave against her son, convictedmurderer RONALD HENRY THOMAS.
Six packages containing poisoned Monte Carlo biscuits and demand letters were sentto identities and corporations in New South Wales and Queensland in 1997.
The Courier-Mail reports there are concerns over DNA taken from a postage stamp onan extortion package.
