QLD: Beattie repeats calls for D arcy to cancel trip
Queensland Premier PETER BEATTIE has today repeated his call for Labor MP BILL D'ARCY to
cancel his trip to the Caribbean for a Commonwealth Parliamentary Association conference.
Mr BEATTIE says the backbencher should not go on the trip while the so-called net bet
affair is being investigated.
Mr D'ARCY, the deputy chair and chairman of committees in Queensland's parliament, is
planning to attend the Trinidad and Tobago conference next month.
He is one of three key Labor figures involved in the row over an Internet betting licence.
Opposition leader ROB BORBIDGE says the TAB, and not Gocorp, should have been given the
state's first Internet gaming licence.
Gocorp was part-owned by Mr D'ARCY, former MP DON LIVINGSTONE and Ipswich City Councillor
PAUL PISASALE, when it was granted the first Internet gaming licence by Treasurer DAVID
HAMILL, who has now stood aside pending an investigation.
