Vic: IR refuses to okay opening of Burnley Tunnel =2
In a statement to the Australian Stock Exchange, Transurban said the IR had undertaken
the final inspection of the works and had approved certified completion of the Southern
Link (Monash Freeway eastbound), including the tolling system.
The IR also said he was satisfied the Burnley Tunnel could be used by the public for
the continuous passage of vehicles and Transurban could perform its obligations.
"However, because of the IR's interpretation of the definition of completion in the
Melbourne City Link Concession Deed, he considers that he is unable to certify completion,"
Transurban said in a statement.
Transurban said a further announcement would be made when further information was available.
