Vic: Aussie "spidernauts" set to return to Earth
Australia's eight so-called spidernauts will return to Earth early tomorrow, with scientistseagerly waiting to see whether they have been able to spin webs in space.
The eight Australian Golden Orb Weaver spiders are due to land in about three hoursat Kennedy Space Centre, Florida after 16 days in space shuttle Columbia.
Scientists want to know if webs built at zero gravity are different to those createdon the ground.
Low resolution video images of the spiders suggest they have successfully built webs.
If this proves correct, scientists will attempt to mimic the spider silk in aerospacestructures and space stations.
